The present invention relates to an OsRP5 promoter that induces specific expression in the centromere of plant roots and a use thereof. Specifically, the present invention relates to an OsRP5 promoter, a recombinant vector containing the promoter, a transgenic plant transformed with the recombinant vector, and a method for producing the transgenic plant. By using the OsRP5 promoter, which is specifically expressed in the plant root centrum, of the present invention, the target gene can be specifically expressed in the roots. The same can be used to improve agricultural characteristics of crops such as drought tolerance, salt tolerance, and consumptivity by improving root characteristics such as transport of nutrients, ions, and water, and control of root shape. 본 발명은 식물 뿌리의 중심주에서 특이적인 발현을 유도하는 OsRP5 프로모터 및 이의 용도에 관한 것으로, 구체적으로는 OsRP5 프로모터, 상기 프로모터를 포함하는 재조합 벡터, 상기 재조합 벡터로 형질전환된 형질전환 식물체 및 상기 형질전환 식물체의 제조방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 식물 뿌리 중심주에서 특이적으로 발현되는 OsRP5 프로모터를 이용하여, 목적 유전자를 뿌리에 특이적으로 발현시킬 수 있으며, 이를 이용하여 양분, 이온 및 물의 수송, 뿌리 형태 조절 등 뿌리 형질 개선을 통해 내건성, 내염성, 소비성 등 작물의 농업형질 개량에 활용 가능하다.
