The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for the prevention or treatment of diseases related to metabolic syndrome, which contains an extract of Dendropanax morbiferus sap or a compound derived therefrom as an active component. The composition containing the Dendropanax morbiferus sap extract or the compound derived from the same as an active component of the present invention not only has low toxicity, but also regulates glucose metabolism and increases muscle metabolism by increasing glycolysis and mitochondrial respiration, thereby being expected to be useful in preventing or treating diseases related to metabolic syndrome, including hyperglycemia and obesity. 본 발명은 황칠나무 수액 추출물 또는 이의 유래 화합물을 유효성분으로 포함하는 대사증후군 관련 질환의 예방 또는 치료용 약학적 조성물 등에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 황칠나무 수액 추출물 또는 이의 유래 화합물을 유효성분으로 포함하는 조성물은 독성이 적을 뿐만 아니라, 포도당 대사를 조절하고, 해당작용과 미토콘드리아 호흡을 증가시켜 근육 대사를 증가시키는 바, 고혈당증, 비만을 포함하는 대사증후군 관련 질환의 예방 또는 치료에 유용하게 사용 가능할 것으로 기대된다.
