The present invention relates to a composition for alleviating or treating obesity or fatty liver, including an Ulmus parvifolia extract as an active ingredient. The Ulmus parvifolia extract of the present invention uses natural substances and has no or minimal side effects, wherein excellent effectiveness in alleviating obesity or fatty liver is confirmed through a high-fat diet animal model. Therefore, the composition of the present invention can be usefully used in the field of health functional foods or pharmaceuticals with anti-obesity or fatty liver alleviation/treatment functionality. 본 발명은 참느릅나무 추출물을 유효성분으로 포함하는 비만 또는 지방간의 개선 또는 치료 효과가 있는 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 참느릅나무 추출물은 천연물질을 사용한 것으로 부작용이 없거나 적고, 고지방식이 동물모델을 통해 비만 또는 지방간 개선에 뛰어난 효과를 확인하였다. 따라서 본 발명의 조성물은 항비만 또는 지방간 개선/치료의 기능성을 가진 건강기능식품 또는 의약품 분야에 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
