Summary:One embodiment of the present invention relates to an exterior material for secondary batteries that can improve the bonding strength of each layer inside the exterior material for secondary batteries and the electrolyte resistance and insulation resistance of the exterior material for secondary batteries, and can improve the reliability of secondary batteries by preventing swelling or leakage. To this end, an exterior material for secondary batteries comprises an aluminum foil, and a surface coating layer formed on the surface of the aluminum foil, and is composed of a metal layer which is a surface-modified aluminum foil having a contact angle in a specific range, and a laminate including an outer layer, the metal layer, and an inner layer. 실시예는 알루미늄 박; 및 상기 알루미늄 박의 표면에 형성된 표면 코팅층을 포함하고, 특정 범위의 접촉각을 갖는 표면 개질된 알루미늄 박인 금속층과, 외부층, 상기 금속층 및 내부층을 포함하는 적층체로 구성되는 이차전지용 외장재로서, 이차전지용 외장재 내부의 각 층의 결합력 및 이차 전지용 외장재의 내전해액성과 절연 저항성을 향상시킬 수 있으며, 스웰링 현상이나 누액 현상 등을 방지하여 이차전지의 신뢰성을 향상시킬 수 있는 이차전지용 외장재에 관한 것이다.
