Summary: | A backlight unit of the present disclosure includes: a substrate; a light source disposed on one surface of the substrate to irradiate light; a diffusion layer disposed on one surface of a substrate, having an open area surrounding a light source, and including a plurality of reflective particles diffusing light emitted from the light source in a lateral direction; and an optical guide disposed in the open area of the diffusion layer, in contact with an upper surface of the light source, and scattering the light emitted upward from the light source to diffuse it in multiple directions, wherein the diffusion layer and the optical guide may be tightly coupled such that side surfaces are in contact with each other. Accordingly, a Mura phenomenon is prevented and image quality is improved.
