According to various embodiments, an electronic device may comprise a communication module and at least one processor functionally connected to the communication module. The at least one processor can be configured to: receive, from an external electronic device, through a communication module, a configuration request frame including identification information for identifying a registrant access point (AP), in order to configure the external electronic device as the registrant AP; transmit, to the external electronic device, through the communication module, a configuration response frame including first channel information for indicating a channel used by the electronic device in the scanning of the external electronic device, on the basis of the configuration request frame; acquire connection information about the external electronic device by performing scanning through the communication module, on the basis of the first channel information and the identification information; and connect to the external electronic device through the communication module on the basis of the connection information about the external electronic device. 다양한 실시예들에 따르면, 전자 장치는 통신 모듈과, 상기 통신 모듈과 기능적으로 연결된 적어도 하나의 프로세서를 포함할 수 있다. 상기 적어도 하나의 프로세서는, 외부 전자 장치를 등록자 액세스 포인트(AP)로 구성하기 위해 상기 등록자 AP를 식별하는 식별 정보를 포함하는 구성 요청 프레임을 상기 통신 모듈을 통하여 상기 외부 전자 장치로부터 수신하고, 상기 구성 요청 프레임을 기반으로, 상기 전자 장치가 상기 외부 전자 장치를 스캔하는데 사용되는 채널을 나타내는 제1 채널 정보를 포함하는 구성 응답 프레임을 상기 통신 모듈을 통하여 상기 외부 전자 장치로 전송하고, 상기 제1 채널 정보와 상기 식별 정보를 기반으로 상기 통신 모듈을 통해 스캐닝을 수행하여 상기 외부 전자 장치의 연결 정보를 획득하고, 상기 외부 전자 장치의 연결 정보를 기반으로 상기 통신 모듈을 통해 상기 외부 전자 장치와 연결하도록 구성될 수 있다.
