The present invention relates to an electric water heater capable of reducing the size of a device while increasing thermal efficiency by using a heat exchanger and a quartz pipe coated with heat transfer paint. Specifically, the electric water heater comprises: a heater heating hot water flowing thereinto; a heat exchanger receiving hot water heated by the heater and transferring calories from the heated hot water to cold water supplied from the outside in the process of returning the hot water back to the heater; a hot water discharge pipe supplying the heated hot water to the heat exchanger; a hot water inlet pipe introducing the hot water passing through the heat exchanger back into the heater; a cold water inlet pipe introducing cold water into the heat exchanger; a cold water discharge pipe discharging cold water introduced into the cold water inlet pipe to the outside after absorbing calories by the heat exchanger; and a circulation pump installed on at least one between the hot water inlet pipe and the hot water discharge pipe to forcibly circulate fluid. 본 발명은 전열도료가 도포된 석영관과 열교환기를 이용하여 열효율을 높이면서도 장치를 소형화할 수 있는 전기온수기에 관한 것이며, 구체적인 특징은 내부로 흐르는 온수를 가열시키는 히터; 상기 히터에 의하여 가열된 온수를 공급받고 다시 히터에 복귀시키는 과정에서 상기 가열된 온수로부터의 열량을 외부에서 공급되는 냉수에 전달시키는 열교환기; 상기 가열된 온수를 상기 열교환기에 공급하는 온수 배출관과, 상기 열교환기를 통과한 온수를 상기 히터에 다시 유입시키는 온수 유입관과, 상기 열교환기에 냉수를 유입시키는 냉수 유입관과, 상기 냉수 유입관으로부터 유입된 냉수가 상기 열교환기에서 열량을 흡수한 후 외부로 배출되도록 하는 냉수 배출관; 상기 온수 유입관, 상기 온수 배출관 중 적어도 하나에 설치되어 유체를 강제 순환시키는 순환펌프를 포함하는 것이다.
