Summary:The present invention relates to the ability to extend the life of a cutting tool by remarkably improving the adhesion of a hard coating layer coated on the surface of a base material constituting the cutting tool. According to the present invention, provided is a cutting tool having a base material and a hard coating formed on the base material, wherein a plurality of fine protrusions are formed on the surface of the base material at the interface between the base material and the hard coating, the fine protrusions are formed in an approximately hemispherical protruding shape, and on the surface of at least some of the fine protrusions, a layer containing a large amount of one or more elements selected from groups 4, 5, and 6 of the periodic table and Al, Si, and B is formed. 본 발명은 절삭공구를 구성하는 모재의 표면에 코팅되는 경질피복층의 밀착성을 현저하게 향상시킴으로써, 절삭공구의 수명을 연장시킬 수 있는 것에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 절삭공구는, 모재와 상기 모재 상에 경질피막이 형성된 것으로, 상기 모재와 경질피막 사이의 경계면에 있어서, 상기 모재의 표면에는 다수의 미세돌기가 형성되어 있고, 상기 미세돌기는 대략 반구형으로 돌출된 형상으로 이루어지며, 상기 미세돌기 중 적어도 일부의 표면에는, 주기율표의 4족, 5족, 6족 및 Al, Si, B 중에서 선택된 1종 이상의 원소를 다량 포함하는 층이 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 한다.
