According to one embodiment of the present invention, a plug-in-type energy storage system may be provided, wherein the plug-in-type energy storage system includes: a plurality of battery racks for storing power; and a panel for controlling charging or discharging of the plurality of battery racks. Each of the battery racks includes: a plurality of battery modules for storing power; a control module connected to the battery module and the panel to control charging or discharging of the battery module according to a control signal received from the panel; a conversion module connected to the control module and converting a waveform of power into direct current or alternating current according to a control signal received from the control module; and a case accommodating the battery module, conversion module, and control module. A plurality of battery modules and a battery power management unit integrally constitute a battery rack. Thus, when exchanging batteries, each battery rack can be exchanged as a whole. Since charging or discharging can be performed in units of battery racks, battery racks constituting one energy storage system can be composed of heterogeneous batteries or reusable batteries.
