A system for providing a virtual exercise place according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: an image information generation unit that receives actual exercise place image data, which is location-based image data of a real exercise place photographed by an uploader terminal, and converts the real exercise place image data to virtual exercise place image data, which is location-based image data related to a virtual exercise place corresponding to the real exercise place; an image information database in which the virtual exercise place image data is stored; and an image data control unit which transmits selectable virtual exercise places to an exerciser's terminal, selects, if the exerciser's terminal chooses a virtual exercise place, virtual exercise place image data from the image information database and transmits the same to the exerciser's terminal, displays on the exerciser's terminal the virtual exercise place image data corresponding to a virtual exercise start point and a virtual exercise route received from the exerciser's terminal, receives actual exercise distance information calculated by an exercise machine, and displays on the exerciser's terminal the virtual exercise place image data corresponding to a virtual current location, which is a location far by an actual exercise distance from the virtual exercise start position. The system for providing a virtual exercise place of the present invention allows a user to upload real exercise place image data and select virtual exercise place image data converted from the uploaded real exercise place image data to experience virtual movement, and to be rewarded for uploading the data. 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 가상 운동 장소 제공 시스템은, 업로더 단말기에 의해 촬영된 실제 운동 장소의 위치 기반 영상 데이터인 실제 운동 장소 화상 데이터를 전송받아, 실제 운동 장소 화상 데이터를 실제 운동 장소와 대응되는 가상 운동 장소와 관련된 위치 기반 화상 데이터인 가상 운동 장소 화상 데이터로 변환하는 화상 정보 생성부; 가상 운동 장소 화상 데이터가 저장되는 화상 정보 데이터베이스; 운동자 단말기로 선택 가능한 가상 운동 장소를 전송하며, 운동자 단말기가 가상 운동 장소를 선택하면, 가상 운동 장소 화상 데이터를 화상 정보 데이터베이스에서 선택하여 운동자 단말기로 전송하고, 운동자 단말기로부터 입력 받은 가상 운동 시작 위치 및 가상 운동 경로에 해당되는 가상 운동 장소 화상 데이터를 운동자 단말기에 표시하며, 운동기구에 의해 계산된 실제 운동 거리 정보를 전송받고, 가상 운동 시작 위치로부터 실제 운동 거리만큼 이동된 위치인 가상 현재 위치에 대응되는 가상 운동 장소 화상 데이터를 운동자 단말기에 표시하는 화상 데이터 제어부를 포함할 수 있다.
