Summary:The present disclosure relates to a communication technique for converging a 5G communication system to support a higher data transfer rate than a 4G system with IoT technology, and a system thereof. The present disclosure can be applied to intelligent services (for example, smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car or connected car, healthcare, digital education, retail business, security- and safety-related services, etc.) based on 5G communication technology and IoT-related technology. The present invention discloses a method and apparatus for transmitting an uplink control channel in a wireless cellular communication system. A method performed by a terminal in a communication system comprises the steps of: receiving a radio resource control (RRC) message including information on the number of slots and information on the number of symbols for physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) transmission, from a base station; receiving information indicating a PUCCH resource from the base station; and performing the PUCCH transmission over a number of slots corresponding to the information on the number of slots, based on the PUCCH resource. 본 개시는 4G 시스템 이후 보다 높은 데이터 전송률을 지원하기 위한 5G 통신 시스템을 IoT 기술과 융합하는 통신 기법 및 그 시스템에 관한 것이다. 본 개시는 5G 통신 기술 및 IoT 관련 기술을 기반으로 지능형 서비스 (예를 들어, 스마트 홈, 스마트 빌딩, 스마트 시티, 스마트 카 혹은 커넥티드 카, 헬스 케어, 디지털 교육, 소매업, 보안 및 안전 관련 서비스 등)에 적용될 수 있다. 본 발명은 무선 셀룰라 통신 시스템에서 상향 제어 채널 전송 방법 및 장치를 개시한다.
