According to one aspect of the present invention, provided are a display device enabling a user to control a display which is a control target while checking a video screen as well as an OSD screen by displaying the video screen and the OSD screen, which are displayed on the display, on another display which the user can see, and a control method thereof. According to one embodiment, the display device includes: a first video processor converting a video signal inputted from the outside into a video signal of a first format, and creating an OSD signal of the first format in accordance with a control command inputted from the outside; a first display; a divider outputting a synthesized signal of the first format, which is made by synthesizing the video signal of the first format with the OSD signal of the first format, to transmit the same to the first display, and outputting an image signal of the first format including at least one among the video signal of the first format, the OSD signal of the first format and the synthesized signal of the first format to transmit the same to the second display; and a control part converting the image signal of the first format outputted from the divider to be transmitted to the second display into an image signal of a second format. 개시된 발명의 일 측면은, 제어 대상인 디스플레이에 표시되는 비디오 화면과 OSD 화면을, 사용자가 볼 수 있는 다른 디스플레이에 함께 표시함으로써 사용자가 비디오 화면 뿐만 아니라 OSD 화면을 확인하면서 디스플레이를 제어할 수 있도록 하는 디스플레이 장치 및 그 제어방법을 제공한다. 일 실시예에 따른 디스플레이 장치는, 외부에서 입력된 비디오 신호를 제1포맷의 비디오 신호로 변환하고, 외부에서 입력된 제어 명령에 따라 제1포맷의 OSD 신호를 생성하는 제1비디오 프로세서; 제1디스플레이; 상기 제1디스플레이에 전송하기 위해 제1포맷의 비디오 신호와 상기 제1포맷의 OSD 신호가 합성된 제1포맷의 합성 신호를 출력하고, 상기 제2디스플레이에 전송하기 위해 상기 제1포맷의 비디오 신호, 상기 제1포맷의 OSD신호 및 상기 제1포맷의 합성 신호 중 적어도 하나를 포함하는 제1포맷의 영상 신호를 출력하는 분배기; 및 상기 분배기에서 상기 제2디스플레이에 전송하기 위해 출력한 상기 제1포맷의 영상 신호를 제2포맷의 영상 신호로 변환하는 제어부;를 포함한다.
