Summary:The present invention relates to a rigidity-variable gripper with an magnetorheological elastomer (MRE), an electromagnet, and a spring and a method for picking up atypical objects using the same, in which an atypical object is wrapped using the spring that is compressed to correspond to an outer curve of an atypical object and the MRE that changes in shape and then a magnetic field is generated to maintain the changed shape of the MRE, thereby stably picking up atypical objects regardless of shape, size, and material of the atypical objects. The rigidity-variable gripper includes a pair of gripper fingers and an MRE module, the MRE module is maintained in a changed shape by a magnetic field to pick up an atypical object. 본 발명은 비정형 물체의 외측 굴곡에 상응하게 압축되는 스프링 및 형상이 변형되는 자기유변 탄성체를 이용하여 비정형 물체를 감싼 후 자기장을 발생시켜 자기유변 탄성체의 형상 변형 상태를 유지함으로써, 비정형 물체의 형상, 크기, 재질에 구애받지 않고 안정적으로 비정형 물체를 피킹할 수 있도록 하는 자기유변 탄성체, 전자석 및 스프링이 적용된 가변강성 그리퍼, 이를 이용한 비정형 물체 피킹 방법에 관한 것이다.
