무선 통신 시스템에서 송신 장치가 레인징 능력을 지원하는 방법이 제공된다. 상기 방법은: 레인징 동작에 참여하는 수신 장치 그룹 중 적어도 하나의 수신 장치를 결정하는 단계; 상기 수신 장치 그룹 중 상기 적어도 하나의 수신 장치에 대한 스크램블된 타임스탬프 시퀀스 물리 계층 프로토콜 데이터 유닛 포맷 3 레인징 요청 리포트 정보 요소(scrambled timestamp sequence(STS) physical layer protocol data unit(PPDU) format 3(SP3) ranging request reports information element: SRRR IE)를 식별하는 단계; 및 대역내 메커니즘 또는 대역외 메커니즘을 이용하여, 상기 SRRR IE를 포함하는 레인징 제어 메시지(ranging control message: RCM)를 상기 레인징 동작에 참여하는 상기 수신 장치 그룹 중 상기 적어도 하나의 수신 장치로 전송하는 단계를 포함한다. A method of a transmit apparatus in a wireless communication system supporting ranging capability is provided. The method comprises: determining at least one receive apparatus of a group of receive apparatuses participating in a ranging operation; identifying a scrambled timestamp sequence (STS) physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU) format 3 (SP3) ranging request reports information element (SRRR IE) for the at least one receive apparatus of the group of receive apparatuses; and transmitting, to the at least one receive apparatus of the group of receive apparatuses participating in the ranging operation, a ranging control message (RCM) including the SRRR IE using an in-band mechanism or an out-of-band mechanism, wherein the RCM including the SRRR IE is transmitted in a time-scheduled ranging operation.
