Summary: | The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a glass fiber having water absorbability for an optical cable, which comprises the steps of: preparing a coating solution having a pH of 6 to 7 in which a resin having water absorbability and made of an acrylic emulsion polymer containing 30 wt% or more of (meth)acrylic acid polymerization units is dispersed in a dispersion medium; and immersing a glass fiber in the coating solution and drying the glass fiber. Since the glass fiber having water absorbability and a coating layer manufactured according to the present invention has increased water absorbability, an optical cable disposed to surround an optical fiber core part by using the glass fiber having the coating layer as a reinforcing material protects the optical fiber core part from water flowing in from the outside.
본 발명은 (메타)아크릴산 중합단위를 30 중량% 이상 포함하는 아크릴계 유화 중합체로 된 흡수성 수지가 분산매에 분산된 pH가 6 내지 7인 코팅액을 준비하는 단계; 및 상기 코팅액에 유리섬유를 침지시키고 이를 건조시키는 단계를 포함하는 광케이블용 흡수성 유리섬유의 제조방법을 제공한다. 본 발명에 따라 제조된 코팅층을 갖는 흡수성 유리섬유는 수분 흡수성이 증대되므로, 이러한 코팅층이 형성된 유리섬유를 보강재로서 이용하여 광섬유 코어부를 에워싸도록 배치한 광케이블은 외부로부터 유입되는 수분으로부터 광섬유 코어부가 보호된다. |
