Summary:Disclosed are an air purifier and a method for controlling the same. The air purifier of the present invention comprises: a first fan for inducting air; an odor sensor for detecting the concentration of odor in the air; a hybrid filter including activated carbon and a photocatalyst; a light emitting diode (LED) arranged in an area where the photocatalyst included in the hybrid filter is located to emit light; and a processor for identifying whether the concentration of the odor in the air detected by the odor sensor exceeds a first threshold, driving a first fan to induct the air so as to reduce the concentration of the odor in the air using a hybrid filter when it is identified that the concentration of the odor in the air exceeds the first threshold, and controlling the LED to emit the light to the photocatalyst on the basis of the concentration of carbon dioxide in the air when the concentration of the odor in the air detected by the odor sensor is not reduced to a second threshold equal to or more than the first threshold after a threshold time period passes since the first fan began being driven. Therefore, a more comfortable indoor environment can be provided. 공기 청정기 및 그의 제어 방법이 개시된다. 본 공기 청정기는 공기를 흡입하기 위한 제1 팬(fan), 공기 중 냄새의 농도를 감지하는 냄새 센서, 활성탄과 광촉매를 포함하는 하이브리드 필터, 하이브리드 필터에 포함된 광촉매가 위치한 영역에 배열되어 빛을 방출하는 LED(Light Emitting Diode) 및 냄새 센서를 통해 감지된 공기 중 냄새의 농도가 제1 임계값을 초과하는지 여부를 식별하고, 공기 중 냄새의 농도가 제1 임계값을 초과하는 것으로 식별되면, 하이브리드 필터를 이용하여 공기 중 냄새 농도를 감소시키기 위하여 공기를 흡입하도록 제1 팬을 구동하고, 제1 팬이 구동되고 임계 시간 후 냄새 센서를 통해 감지된 공기 중 냄새 농도가 제1 임계값 이상의 제2 임계값으로 감소되지 않는 경우, 공기 중 이산화탄소의 농도를 바탕으로 광촉매에 빛을 방출하도록 LED를 제어할 수 있다.
