Disclosed are a patent information processing apparatus using natural language processing, and a method using the patent information processing apparatus. According to the present invention, the patent information processing apparatus using the natural language processing includes: a communication unit for receiving patent information from a patent information server; an extraction unit for separately extracting claims and detailed descriptions from the received patent information; a classification unit for classifying at least one of the extracted claims into phrases; a formation unit for forming a diagram by using a noun phrase among the classified phrases; a retrieval unit for retrieving a patent document including all or a part of the noun phrase among the patent information stored in the patent information server to provide the retrieved patent document to a user; and a similarity determination unit for determining similarity of patent documents. Accordingly, similarity and differentiation of patents are efficiently analyzed. 자연어 처리를 이용한 특허 정보 처리 장치 및 이를 이용한 방법을 개시한다. 본 발명의 자연어 처리를 이용한 특허 정보 처리 장치는 특허 정보 서버로부터 특허 정보를 수신하는 통신부, 상기 수신된 특허 정보에서 청구항과 상세한 설명에 해당하는 부분을 구분하여 추출하는 추출부, 상기 추출된 청구항 중 적어도 하나 이상의 항에 대해서 구절(phrase)로 분류하는 분류부 및 분류된 구절(phrase) 중 명사구절(noun phrase)을 이용하여 다이어그램으로 형성하는 형성부, 상기 특허 정보 서버에 저장된 특허 정보 중 상기 명사구(Noun phrase)를 전부 또는 일부를 포함하는 특허 문헌을 검색하여 사용자에게 제공하는 검색부; 상기 특허 정보 처리 장치는 특허 문헌의 유사도를 판단하는 유사도 판단부;를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 자연어 처리를 이용한 특허 정보 처리 장치를 포함한다.
