The present invention relates to a method of selecting a sensor signal characteristic factor based on a statistical index sensitive to an outlier and an apparatus thereof. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a statistical index-based class classification method includes the following steps of: (a) obtaining a sensor signal; (b) extracting a plurality of characteristic factors from the obtained sensor signal; obtaining a result value by applying each characteristic factor combination, which can be made by combining the plurality of extracted characteristic factors, to a kurtosis-based statistical index model; (d) selecting a characteristic factor combination compressing at least one characteristic factor from among the plurality of characteristic factor combinations in accordance with the result value; and (e) classifying a class for the sensor signal by using the selected at least one characteristic factor. Therefore, the present invention is capable of increasing the accuracy of class classification. 본 발명은 이상치(Outlier)에 민감한 통계적 지표 기반의 센서신호 특성 인자 선정 방법 및 장치에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 통계적 지표 기반의 클래스 분류 방법은 (a)센서 신호를 획득하는 단계; (b) 상기 획득된 센서 신호로부터 다수의 특성 인자들을 추출하는 단계; (c) 상기 추출된 다수의 특성 인자들로 조합 가능한 특성 인자 조합 각각을 커토시스(kurtosis)에 기반한 통계적 지표 모델에 적용하여 결과값을 획득하는 단계; (d) 상기 결과값에 따라 상기 다수의 특성 인자 조합들 중 적어도 하나의 특성 인자로 이루어진 특성 인자 조합을 선택하는 단계; 및 (e) 상기 선택된 적어도 하나의 특성 인자를 이용하여 상기 센서 신호에 대한 클래스를 분류하는 단계;를 포함할 수 있다.
