An embodiment of the present invention relates to a system and a method for performance monitoring to detect abnormal performance of a system. The system for performance monitoring includes: a performance data collection unit for collecting performance data for each of a plurality of performance inspection items for the system; a performance statistics acquisition unit that classifies the performance data collected in the same time period for each of the plurality of performance inspection items into an upper group and a lower group, and calculates performance statistics data of each of the upper group and the lower group for each time period; a performance statistics database for storing the performance statistics data calculated by the performance statistics acquisition unit; a normal range setting unit that obtains first performance statistical data of the upper group and second performance statistical data of the lower group corresponding to the current performance data from the performance statistics database based on the performance check item and time period corresponding to current performance data upon input of the current performance data to be inspected, and sets a first normal range based on third performance statistical data selected from the first and second performance statistical data according to the value of the current performance data; and a performance inspection unit that compares the current performance data with the first normal range to determine normal/abnormality of the current performance data. 실시 예는, 시스템의 성능 비정상을 탐지하기 위한 성능 모니터링 시스템 및 그 방법에 관한 것으로서, 성능 모니터링 시스템은, 상기 시스템에 대한 복수의 성능검사항목 각각에 대해 성능데이터들을 수집하는 성능데이터 수집부, 상기 복수의 성능검사항목 각각에 대해 동일한 시간대에 수집된 성능데이터들을 상위 그룹 및 하위 그룹으로 분류하고, 시간대별로 상기 상위 그룹 및 상기 하위 그룹 각각의 성능통계데이터들을 산출하는 성능통계 획득부, 상기 성능통계 획득부에 의해 산출된 상기 성능통계데이터들을 저장하는 성능통계 데이터베이스, 검사 대상인 현재 성능데이터가 입력되면, 상기 현재 성능데이터에 대응하는 성능검사항목 및 시간대에 기초하여, 상기 성능통계 데이터베이스로부터 상기 현재 성능데이터에 대응하는 상기 상위 그룹의 제1성능통계데이터 및 상기 하위 그룹의 제2 성능통계데이터를 획득하고, 상기 현재 성능데이터의 값에 따라 상기 제1 및 제2 성능통계데이터 중에서 선택된 제3 성능통계데이터에 기초하여 제1 정상범위를 설정하는 정상범위 설정부, 및 상기 현재 성능데이터와 상기 제1 정상범위를 비교하여 상기 현재 성능데이터의 정상/비정상을 판정하는 성능 검사부를 포함할 수 있다.
