Summary:An objective of the present invention is to provide a drive system of a chuck device and a control method thereof which can easily and precisely stop fingers at any position. The drive system (10) for driving a chuck device (12) comprises a controller (16) and a switch valve (14) to switch a supply state of compressed air to the chuck device (12) based on a valve command signal from the controller (16). The switch valve (14) consists of a five-port servo valve. During switching of a closing position of first and second fingers (26, 28) to an opening position, when the axial position of a piston (20) reaches a switching position (E) preceding a target position (D) at which the first and second fingers (26, 28) are at any middle positions by a prescribed distance (L), the switch valve (14) is opened to a third opening degree (Vc) for a prescribed time (t) and then opened to a fourth opening degree (Vd) to stop the supply and discharge of compressed air.
