Summary:The present invention provides a video encoding method for encoding a hierarchical-structured symbol which encodes a picture of a video based on hierarchical-structured data units, determines a symbol for the encoded picture based on the hierarchical-structured data units, determines an encoding method of the symbol based on characteristics of the symbol determined based on the hierarchical-structured data units, and encodes and outputs the symbol in accordance with the determined encoding method. 본 발명은, 계층적 구조의 데이터 단위들을 기초로 비디오의 픽처를 부호화하고, 부호화된 픽처에 대한 심볼을 계층적 구조의 데이터 단위들을 기초로 결정하고, 계층적 구조의 데이터 단위들을 기초로 결정된 심볼의 특성에 기초하여 심볼의 부호화 방식을 결정하여, 결정된 부호화 방식에 따라 심볼을 부호화하여 출력하는 계층적 구조의 심볼을 부호화하는 비디오 부호화 방법이 제안된다.
