Summary:The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for treating sepsis or systemic inflammatory response syndrome, which comprises mitochondria as an active component. When treating activated macrophages and monocytes with mitochondria, which is the active component of the pharmaceutical composition according to the present invention, it is possible to restore the expression of IL-1β, TNF-α, and IL-6, which are pro-inflammatory cytokines. In addition, when administering the pharmaceutical composition according to the present invention to a sepsis-induced individual, it is possible to significantly increase a survival rate of the individual. Therefore, the pharmaceutical composition according to the present invention can be effectively used for treating sepsis. 본 발명은 미토콘드리아를 유효성분으로 포함하는 패혈증 또는 전신성 염증 반응 증후군(SIRS) 치료용 약학 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 약학 조성물의 유효성분인 미토콘드리아를 활성화된 대식세포와 단핵구에 처리할 경우, 전염증성 사이토카인(Pro-inflammatory cytokine)인 IL-1β, TNF-α 및 IL-6의 발현을 회복시킬 수 있다. 또한, 본 발명의 약학 조성물을 패혈증을 유발한 개체에 투여하는 경우, 개체의 생존율을 현저하게 증가시킬 수 있다. 따라서, 본 발명에 따른 약학 조성물은 패혈증의 치료에 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
