Summary:The present disclosure provides a radar for a vehicle and a control method thereof. The radar for a vehicle comprises: an antenna radiating electromagnetic waves traveling through a structure of a vehicle and receiving electromagnetic waves reflected from a target; a beam steering unit adjusting the direction of a beam pattern by electromagnetic waves radiated from the antenna; and a signal processing unit measuring the magnitude of a diffuse reflection signal reflected from a transmission surface of the structure included in the received electromagnetic waves, and outputting a beam steering angle adjusting the direction of the beam pattern when the magnitude of the diffuse reflection signal is greater than a preset reference value. According to the present disclosure, a decrease in the detection performance of a radar due to diffuse reflection can be reduced. 본 개시는 차량의 구조물을 투과하여 진행하는 전자파를 방사하고, 타겟에서 반사된 전자파를 수신하는 안테나, 안테나에서 방사되는 전자파에 의한 빔 패턴의 방향을 조정하는 빔 조향부 및 수신된 전자파 중에 포함된 구조물의 투과면에서 반사된 난반사 신호의 크기를 측정하고, 난반사 신호의 크기가 미리 설정된 기준값보다 큰 경우 빔 패턴의 방향을 조정하는 빔 조향각을 빔 조향부로 출력하는 신호처리부를 포함하는 차량용 레이더 및 그 제어 방법을 제공한다. 본 개시에 의하면 난반사에 따른 레이더의 감지 성능 저하를 감소시킬 수 있다.
