The present invention relates to a system for operating an imaging system to perform cephalometric imaging and a method thereof. An imaging system comprises: a column; an upper shelf rotatably coupled to the column; a rotating part coupled to the upper shelf to perform translation linearly along the length of the upper shelf in a radial direction of the column; a first X-ray source coupled to the rotating part; and an X-ray detector coupled to the rotating part from the first X-ray source on an opposite side of the first imaging space.
