The present invention relates to a dental spittoon and a control method thereof. According to the present invention, a dental spittoon comprises: a container portion; a liquid storage portion formed at the bottom of the container portion; a liquid outlet connected to the liquid storage portion; an opening/closing portion for opening and blocking the liquid outlet; a driving portion for operating the opening/closing portion; a liquid information acquisition portion configured to detect whether a liquid level in the liquid storage portion is greater than or equal to a first reference value; and a control portion controlling the driving portion to open and close the liquid outlet when the liquid level is equal to or greater than the first reference value. 본 발명은 치과용 타구대 및 그 제어 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 치과용 타구대는, 용기부; 상기 용기부 하단에 형성된 액체 저장부; 상기 액체 저장부에 연결된 액체 배출구; 상기 액체 배출구를 개방 및 차단하는 개폐부; 상기 개폐부를 동작시키는 구동부; 상기 액체 저장부 내부의 액체의 액위가 제1 기준값 이상인지 여부를 검출하는 액체 정보 획득부; 및 상기 액위가 상기 제1 기준값 이상인 경우, 상기 개폐부가 상기 액체 배출구를 개방하도록 상기 구동부를 제어하는 제어부를 포함한다.
