Summary:Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for setting a layout of a physical keyboard connected to an electronic device. The electronic device comprises: a display; a communication interface; a memory; and a processor. The processor detects a connection of an external device through the communication interface, displays a guide text related to keyboard layout setting in response to detecting the connection of the external device, receives a key value input by a user through the external device, retrieves a layout that matches the received key value, and sets the retrieved layout as a keyboard layout for the connected external device.
