본 발명은 증후성 인간 대상체에서 알츠하이머 질환을 진단하는 방법 및 인간 대상체가 알츠하이머 질환을 앓게 되기 쉬운지의 여부를 결정하는 방법을 제공한다. 이들 방법은 (a) 대상체로부터의 림프구를 적합한 조건 하에 배양하는 단계; (b) 배양된 림프구에서 PKCε의 양을 측정하는 단계; 및 (c) 단계 (b)의 측정치를 적합한 대조군과 비교하는 단계를 포함한다. This invention provides methods for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease in a symptomatic human subject, and for determining whether a human subject is predisposed to becoming afflicted with Alzheimer's disease. These methods involve the steps of (a) culturing lymphocytes from the subject under suitable conditions; (b) measuring the amount of PKCε in the cultured lymphocytes; and (c) comparing the measurement of step (b) with a suitable control.
