Summary:Disclosed is an apparatus for providing audio metadata which comprises: an audio metadata generation unit generating audio metadata including channel information of audio raw data; and an audio metadata transmission unit transmitting the generated audio metadata to an apparatus for playing audio data. The apparatus for providing audio metadata combines audio raw data with audio metadata including channel information of audio raw data, and transmits the same to the apparatus for playing audio, so as to output multichannel audio in various modes.
