The present invention relates to a power factor correction (PFC) controller and a control method thereof. The PFC controller comprises: a voltage control unit using a PFC output terminal voltage value and a PFC output terminal demand voltage value to control PFC output terminal voltage; a current control unit using output of the voltage control unit to deduct a PFC input terminal demand current value and using the PFC input terminal demand current value and a PFC input terminal current value to deduct a PFC duty so as to control PFC input terminal current; and a distortion compensation unit monitoring input voltage of an input power source, determining whether the input voltage is distorted, and transferring a distortion frequency to the current control unit when the input voltage is distorted so as to prevent diffusion of the PFC input terminal current. PFC출력단전압값과 PFC출력단요구전압값을 이용하여 PFC출력단 전압을 제어하는 전압제어부; 전압제어부의 출력을 이용하여 PFC입력단요구전류값을 도출하고, PFC입력단요구전류값과 PFC입력단전류값을 이용하여 PFC듀티를 도출함으로써 PFC입력단 전류를 제어하는 전류제어부; 및 입력전원의 입력전압을 모니터링하고, 입력전압의 왜곡여부를 판단하며, 입력전압의 왜곡시에는 왜곡주파수를 전류제어부에 전달함으로써 PFC입력단 전류의 발산을 방지하는 왜곡보상부;를 포함하는 PFC 제어기 및 제어방법이 소개된다.
