Provided are a semiconductor device and a method for fabricating the same. The method for fabricating the semiconductor comprises the steps of: forming a fin type pattern protruding from a substrate and extending in a first direction; forming, on the substrate, a field insulating film surrounding a part of the fin type pattern; forming, on the field insulating film and the pinned pattern, a gate structure extending in a second direction different from the first direction; forming a first barrier film including a nitrogen element in a first region of the field insulating film exposed by the gate structure and adjacent to the gate structure and extending in the second direction; and forming a gate spacer on sidewalls of the first barrier film and the gate structure. 반도체 장치 및 이의 제조 방법이 제공된다. 반도체 장치의 제조 방법은, 기판으로부터 돌출되어 제1 방향으로 연장되는 핀형 패턴을 형성하고, 기판 상에, 핀형 패턴의 일부를 감싸는 필드 절연막을 형성하고, 필드 절연막 및 핀형 패턴 상에, 제1 방향과 다른 제2 방향으로 연장되는 게이트 구조체를 형성하고, 게이트 구조체에 의해 노출되고 게이트 구조체와 인접하고 제2 방향으로 연장되는 상기 필드 절연막의 제1 영역에, 질소 원소를 포함하는 제1 배리어막을 형성하고, 제1 배리어막과 게이트 구조체의 측벽에, 게이트 스페이서를 형성하는 것을 포함한다.
