The color conversion element comprises a base substrate, a wavelength conversion pattern layer including a plurality of wavelength conversion layers disposed and spaced apart from each other on the base substrate, and an overcoat layer disposed on the wavelength conversion pattern layer so as to cover at least a part of the wavelength conversion pattern layer; and an upper surface of the overcoat layer has a higher surface flatness than a lower surface. 색 변환소자 및 그 제조 방법이 제공된다. 색 변환소자는 베이스 기판, 상기 베이스 기판 상에 서로 이격되어 배치된 복수의 파장 변환층을 포함하는 파장 변환 패턴층 및 상기 파장 변환 패턴층 상에 상기 파장 변환 패턴층의 적어도 일부분을 덮도록 배치된 오버코트층을 포함하되, 상기 오버코트층은 상면이 하면보다 평탄도(surface flatness)가 높다.
