Summary:The present invention relates to an aligning inducing type liquid crystal monomer having a photoreactive group, a method of horizontally aligning liquid crystals using the same, and a liquid crystal display device fabricated using the same. The present invention provides an aligning inducing type liquid crystal monomer having a photoreactive group which includes a chalcone or cinnamic central structure. Also, the present invention provides a method of producing excellent horizontal alignment of liquid crystals without forming a separate alignment layer, by injecting a mixture containing the liquid crystal monomer having photoreactivity and a liquid crystal material commonly used in display into liquid crystal cells; phase-separating the liquid crystal monomer having photoreactivity from the mixture based on irradiation with linearly polarized UV light to form anisotropic polymer layers on inner surfaces of upper substrates and lower substrates of the cells; and inducing the liquid crystal material to horizontally align in a single direction. In addition, the present invention provides a liquid crystal display device which has a response speed and electro-optical properties equivalent to conventional PI-IPS. 본 발명은 광반응성기를 가지는 배향유도형 액정 단량체, 그를 이용한 액정의 수평배향방법 및 그로부터 제조된 액정표시장치에 관한 것이다. 본 발명은 칼콘(chalcone) 또는 시나믹(cinnamic) 중심 구조를 포함하는 광반응성기를 가지는 배향유도형 액정 단량체를 제공하고, 상기 광반응성을 가지는 액정 단량체와 디스플레이에 사용되는 통상의 액정물질이 포함된 혼합물을 액정 셀에 주입하고, 선편광된 UV광 조사에 의해 상기 혼합물로부터 광반응성을 가지는 액정 단량체가 상분리되어, 셀의 상부기판 및 하부기판 안쪽 표면에 이방성 폴리머층을 형성하도록 하고, 상기 액정물질이 단일 방향으로 수평배향되도록 유도함으로써 배향막을 별도로 제조하지 않고도 우수한 액정의 수평배향을 얻어내는 방법을 제공하며, 이를 통해 종래 PI-IPS과 대등한 응답속도 및 전기-광적 물성을 구현한 액정표시장치를 제공할 수 있다.
