According to an embodiment, a refrigerator comprises: a body including a storage chamber; a door coupled to the body to open and close the storage chamber; a display disposed on at least one area of the door, and switched between a first mode, a second mode, and a third mode; a memory element storing at least one of texts, images, and colors; and a control unit controlling the display to be switched into one of the first mode, the second mode, and the third mode. Moreover, the display comprises: a first mode which can check food stored in the storage chamber from the outside; a second mode which can display at least one of the texts, images, and colors, stored in the memory element; and a third mode in which it is impossible for an inner portion of the storage chamber to be checked. 일 실시예에 따른 냉장고는 저장실을 포함하는 본체와 저장실을 개폐하도록 상기 본체에 결합되는 도어와 도어의 적어도 일 영역에 마련되며, 제1 모드, 제2 모드 및 제3 모드 사이에서 전환 가능한 디스플레이와 텍스트, 이미지 및 색 중 적어도 하나를 저장하는 기억 소자와 디스플레이가 제1 모드, 제2 모드 및 제3 모드 중 하나로 전환되도록 제어하는 제어부를 포함하고, 상기 디스플레이는 저장실에 보관된 식품을 외부에서 확인할 수 있는 제1 모드와, 기억 소자에 저장된 텍스트, 이미지, 색 중 적어도 하나를 표시할 수 있는 제2 모드와, 저장실의 내부를 확인할 수 없는 제3 모드를 포함한다.
