The present invention relates to a composition including an extract of Camellia sinensis, and more preferably, to a composition including an extract of a novel variety of Camellia sinensis called Jangwon No. 3. More specifically, the composition includes the extract of Camellia sinensis including a high content of epigallocatechin-3-O-(3-O-methyl) gallate (EGCG3″Me or 3″-O-Me-EGCG) as an active ingredient. According to the present invention, the composition has excellent collagenase production inhibiting and antioxidant activities due to free radical elimination and suppression capabilities in order to prevent skin aging as well as inhibiting the expression and secretion of inflammatory factors such as prostaglandins and IL-8 in skin cells to have anti-inflammatory effects while showing excellent anti-cancer effects against the cancer cell lines derived from various tissues. 본 발명은 차나무의 추출물, 바람직하게는 차나무 신품종(장원 3호)의 추출물을 함유하는 조성물로서, 더욱 상세하게는 에피갈로카테킨-3--(3--메틸) 갈레이트(epigallocatechin-3-O-(3-O-methyl) gallate; EGCG3"Me; 3"--Me-EGCG)를 고함량으로 포함하는 차나무()의 추출물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 에피갈로카테킨-3--(3--메틸) 갈레이트를 고함량으로 포함하는 차나무의 추출물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 조성물은 자유 라디칼 소거 및 억제로 인한 항산화 효과와 콜라게나아제의 생성 억제능이 우수하여 피부 노화를 방지하는 효과, 피부 세포 내 프로스타글란딘 및 IL-8 등 염증 인자의 발현 및 분비를 억제하여 항염 효과가 있으며, 다양한 조직으로부터 유래한 암 세포주에 대한 항암 효과가 우수하다.
