The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating respiratory diseases comprising alcohol or organic solvent extracts of Justicia procumbens L. as an active ingredient, a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating respiratory diseases comprising alcohol or organic solvent extracts of Justicia procumbens L. containing at least one of justicidin A, justicidin B, justicidin C, and phyllamyricin C, and a food composition thereof for preventing or alleviating respiratory diseases. According to the present invention, the composition comprising extracts of Justicia procumbens L. can suppress abnormal hyperplasia of splenocytes and inhibit the secretion of allergic inflammatory cytokines, and exhibits the sputum emission effect and the airway constriction suppression effect, thereby effectively preventing, treating or alleviating respiratory diseases. 본 발명은 쥐꼬리망초(L) 알코올 또는 유기용매 추출물을 유효성분으로 포함하는 호흡기 질환의 예방 또는 치료용 약학적 조성물, 및 저스티시딘 A (Justicidin A), 저스티시딘 B (Justicidin B), 저스티시딘 C (Justicidin C) 및 필라미리신 C (Phyllamyricin C) 중 어느 하나 이상을 포함하는 쥐꼬리망초(L) 알코올 또는 유기용매 추출물을 포함하는 호흡기 질환의 예방 또는 치료용 약학적 조성물, 및 이들의 호흡기 질환 예방 또는 개선용 식품 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 쥐꼬리망초 추출물을 포함하는 조성물은 비장세포의 비정상적인 과증식을 억제하고 알레르기 염증성 사이토카인의 분비를 억제할 수 있으며, 객담 배출 효과 및 기도 수축 억제효과를 나타내므로, 호흡기 질환을 효과적으로 예방, 치료 또는 개선할 수 있다.
