Embodiments of the present invention relate to a processing apparatus with a cover piece generally joining in preheating of a process gas. According to the embodiments of the present invention, the cover piece comprises an annulus. The annulus has an inner wall with a first height, an outer wall with a second height, and the uppermost surface. The second height is greater than the first height. Moreover, the cover piece includes an inner lip disposed adjacent to the inner wall and a plurality of fins disposed on the uppermost surface of the annulus. The cover piece and the fin are made an opaque quartz material.
