Summary: | The present invention relates to a resonant opto-mechanical accelerometer used in a navigation class environment, capable of measuring acceleration of a plurality of axes. According to the present invention, the accelerometer (102) comprises a controller (108); a light source (110) operably coupled to the controller (108); and a bifurcated waveguide (112) coupled to the light source (110) and receiving light outputted from the light source (110). The bifurcated waveguide (112) comprises first and second waveguide portions (114, 116). Moreover, the accelerometer (102) comprises a first resonator (126) operably coupled to the controller (108) and receiving the light from the first waveguide portion (114); and a second resonator (128) operably coupled to the controller (108) and receiving the light from the second waveguide portion (116). The first resonator (126) includes a first verification mass (210) and the second resonator (128) includes a second verification mass (212).
