Summary: | The present invention relates to a method for oligomerizing an olefin using a cleaning device. The method comprises: an ethylene oligomerization step; a catalyst inactivation step; and a product separation step. A reactor is provided with cooling loops (100, 101, 102). At least a part of reaction effluent is moved through at least two switchable heat exchangers by the loops. The heat exchangers are cleaned by an alternately integrated cleaning device.
