One objective of the present invention is to provide a technique of nondestructively measuring freshness of fish within a short time. Embodiments of the present invention relate to a method for inspecting freshness of fish and an apparatus thereof. According to one aspect of the present invention, the method comprises the steps of: irradiating light to a fish to be inspected; capturing a light reflection intensity (LRI) image of the fish to be inspected; extracting an image of an eye region of the fish to be inspected from the LRI image; and confirming freshness of the fish to be inspected based on an LRI level index of the eye region image. 본 발명의 실시예들은 생선의 선도를 검사하는 방법 및 이를 위한 장치에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 일 측면에 따르면, 생선의 선도를 검사하는 방법으로서, 검사 대상 생선에 빛을 조사하는 단계와, 상기 검사 대상 생선의 LRI(Light Reflection Intensity) 이미지를 캡처하는 단계와, 상기 LRI 이미지로부터 상기 검사 대상 생선의 눈(eye) 영역 이미지를 추출하는 단계와, 상기 눈 영역 이미지의 LRI 레벨 지표(index of LRI level)에 기초하여 상기 검사 대상 생선의 선도를 확인하는 단계를 포함하는 생선의 선도 검사 방법이 제공될 수 있다.
