Abstract The present invention relates to an electronic timepiece (1) having two analog type hands. The timepiece includes an hour hand (9) and a minute hand (11). The hour hand (9) and the minute hand (11) are arranged to operate independently of each other. The hour hand (9) and the minute hand (11) are arranged to operate in a first operating mode and a second operating mode where the timepiece (1) is arranged to operate by detecting an event. In the second operating mode, the hour hand (9) and the minute hand (11) are arranged to operate in the first operating mode different from their operating modes.
