The present invention relates to an electrode for a lithium secondary battery with improved rapid charge/discharge characteristics and stability, and a lithium secondary battery including the same. The lithium secondary battery comprises: a current collector; an electrode active material layer placed on at least one side of the current collector; and a carbon-based coating layer placed between the current collector and the electrode active material layer and formed of carbon-based slurry containing a carbon-based material, a first binder, and a thickener, wherein the content of the first binder is 35% to 70% by weight based on the carbon-based coating layer. 본 기재는 집전체, 상기 집전체의 적어도 일면에 위치하는 전극 활물질층, 상기 집전체 및 상기 전극 활물질층의 사이에 위치하며, 카본계 물질, 제1 바인더 및 증점제를 포함하는 카본계 슬러리로 형성된 카본계 코팅층을 포함하고, 상기 제1 바인더의 함량은, 상기 카본계 코팅층을 기준으로 35 중량% 내지 70 중량%인 리튬 이차 전지용 전극 및 이를 포함하는 리튬 이차 전지에 관한 것이다.
