A Houttuynia cordata extract of the present invention is obtained via an extraction method including enzyme treatment and ultrahigh pressure homogenization treatment. The extraction method can increase physiological activities and extraction yield by solubilizing insoluble fiber components, and also secures competitiveness in the production steps by reducing production of by-products. In addition, a composition for antioxidation and anti-inflammation containing the Houttuynia cordata extract as an active ingredient is capable of suppressing production of NO which is an inflammation mediator and has antioxidant functions, thereby being useful as pharmaceutical compositions for preventing and treating inflammatory diseases and cosmetic compositions for antioxidation and anti-inflammation. 본 발명의 어성초 추출물은 효소 처리 및 초고압 균질화 처리를 포함하는 추출방법으로 추출된 것으로, 상기 추출방법은 불용성 섬유질 성분을 가용화시켜 추출 수율과 생리활성이 증진되며, 부산물의 발생을 감소시켜 제조 단계 측면에서도 경쟁력을 확보할 수 있다. 또한, 본 발명의 어성초 추출물을 유효성분으로 포함하는 항산화 및 항염증용 조성물은 항산화기능과 염증 매개물질인 NO의 발생을 억제하므로, 항산화 및 항염증용 화장료 조성물 및 염증성 질환의 예방 및 치료용 약학 조성물로서 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
