The present invention provides a secondary battery, in order to improve durability and safety of a battery pack, which comprises: an electrode assembly including a first electrode plate, a second electrode plate and a separator interposed between the first and second electrode plates; a finishing tape having one surface and the other surface, covering the electrode assembly, and having an adhesive layer formed only on a part of the one surface; a can having an opening at one side thereof for inserting the electrode assembly therethrough and accommodating the electrode assembly therein; and a cap assembly for sealing the opening of the can. 본 발명은 전지 팩의 내구성 및 안전성 향상을 위하여, 제1 전극판, 제2 전극판 및 이들 사이에 개재되는 세퍼레이터를 포함하는 전극 조립체, 일 면과 타 면을 갖고 상기 전극 조립체를 감싸며, 일 면의 일부에만 접착층이 형성된 마감 테이프, 상기 전극 조립체가 삽입되도록 일 측에 개구를 가지며, 내부에 상기 전극 조립체를 수용하는 캔, 및 상기 캔의 개구를 밀폐하는 캡 조립체를 구비하는, 이차 전지를 제공한다.
