본 발명은 뎁스 영상 기반 감시 영상 제공 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 장치는, 정해진 촬영영역 내의 객체에 대한 거리 정보를 포함하는 뎁스 영상(depth image)을 촬영하는 제1 카메라, 상기 정해진 촬영영역 내의 객체에 대한 컬러 영상(color image)을 촬영하는 제2 카메라, 상기 촬영영역 내에서 관심 대상으로 지정된 객체 또는 의심행위를 하는 객체를 식별하는 객체 식별부, 상기 컬러 영상으로부터 상기 식별된 객체의 영역에 해당하는 컬러 이미지를 추출하고, 상기 추출된 컬러 이미지를 상기 뎁스 영상의 대응하는 위치에 합성하여 합성 영상을 생성하는 영상 처리부, 및 상기 객체 식별부에 의해 상기 객체가 식별되지 않으면 상기 뎁스 영상을 감시 영상으로 제공하고, 상기 객체 식별부에 의해 상기 객체가 식별된 경우에만 상기 합성 영상을 감시 영상으로 제공하도록 하는 제어부를 포함한다. The apparatus according to the present invention includes: a first camera capturing a depth image for a subject in a predetermined capturing region; a second camera capturing a color image for the subject in the predetermined capturing region; a subject identification unit identifying a subject in the capturing region; an image processing unit extracting the color image corresponding to a region of the identified subject from the color image and synthesizing the extracted color image with a position corresponding to the depth image to generate a synthesized image; and a control unit providing the depth image when the subject is not identified by the subject identification unit and providing the synthesized image only when the subject is identified by the subject identification unit.
