The present invention relates to a touch screen panel and a driving method thereof. The touch screen panel according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a touch pad part including a plurality of reception pads and a plurality of transmission pads combined with the reception pads; and a touch sensing part determining a touch position according to the capacitance change of the reception pads and the transmission pads. The touch sensing part can scan touch sensing signals in a column direction of the touch screen panel to determine a maximum value for each column, determine whether rows having the maximum value by column are the same, compare all scanned touch sensing signal values to determine a biggest value if the rows having the maximum value by column are not the same, and determine touch coordinates by a combination of the transmission pad and the reception pad corresponding to a position having the biggest value. 본 발명은 터치 스크린 패널 및 그 구동 방법에 관한 것으로, 본 발명의 일 실시 예에 따른 터치 스크린 패널은, 복수 개의 수신 패드들, 및 상기 수신 패드들과 조합을 이루는 복수 개의 전송 패드들을 포함하는 터치 패드부; 및 상기 수신 패드들 및 상기 전송 패드들의 상호 용량 변화에 따라 터치 위치를 결정하는 터치 감지부를 포함하고, 상기 터치 감지부는, 터치 스크린 패널의 열 방향으로 터치 감지 신호들을 스캔하여 열 별로 최대 값을 결정하고, 열 별로 최대 값을 갖는 행이 동일한지 여부를 판단하고, 열 별로 최대 값을 갖는 행이 동일하지 않은 경우, 스캔된 터치 감지 신호들의 값들을 모두 비교하여 가장 큰 값을 결정하고, 상기 가장 큰 값을 갖는 위치에 해당하는 전송 패드와 수신 패드의 조합으로 터치 좌표를 결정할 수 있다.
