The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for searching for objects satisfying certain conditions in an image. The apparatus for searching for an object in an image from a fixed type camera includes: an input unit for receiving an image photographed by a fixed camera; a search setting unit for setting a search area and a search condition for searching for an object included in the image; an object search unit for searching for an object corresponding to a search condition and a search area among the objects included in the image and tracking the found object to extract an image including the object among the images; and an output unit for synthesizing a marker that tracks the object on the extracted image to output the synthesized image. According to the present invention, the object matching the search condition and corresponding to the search area is retrieved from the image obtained by the fixed type camera, and the image synthesized with the marker for tracking the object is outputted by tracking the found objects, thus a post-search for an object in an image can be achieved according to various search conditions or search areas defined by a user. 본 발명은 영상 내 특정 조건을 충족하는 객체를 검색하기 위한 방법 및 장치에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 고정형 카메라 영상의 객체 검색 장치는 고정 설치된 카메라에 의해 촬영된 영상을 입력받는 입력부, 영상에 포함된 객체를 검색하기 위한 검색 영역 및 검색 조건을 설정하는 검색 설정부, 영상에 포함된 객체들 중 검색 조건 및 검색 영역에 대응되는 객체를 검색하고, 검색된 객체를 추적하여 영상 중 객체가 포함된 영상을 추출하는 객체 검색부 및 추출된 영상에 객체를 추적하는 마커를 합성하여 합성 영상을 출력하는 출력부를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다. 본 발명에 의하면, 고정형 카메라에 의해 획득된 영상으로부터 검색 조건에 부합하고 검색 영역에 대응되는 객체를 검색하고, 검색된 객체를 추적하여 객체를 추적하는 마커가 합성된 영상을 출력함으로써, 사용자에 의해 정의되는 다양한 검색 조건 또는 검색 영역에 따라 영상 내 객체에 대한 사후 검색이 가능한 장점이 있다.
