The present invention provides an image processing apparatus and method based on a split screen transceiver, capable of transmitting and outputting an image frame in real time. The image processing apparatus comprises: a transmission frame buffer configured to horizontally split an image frame into a plurality of split image frames; a plurality of split image encoders, each of which compresses a corresponding split image frame in an independent compression method and provides a corresponding split and compressed image frame immediately regardless of a horizontal position of the image frame; a reception frame buffer configured to buffer the plurality of split and compressed image frames to predetermined positions, respectively; an image buffer configured to buffer a display image; and a plurality of image decoders, each of which decompresses the corresponding split and compressed image frame and provides the corresponding decompressed split and compressed image frame to the image buffer. Therefore, the image processing apparatus is capable of immediately transmitting the image frame by horizontally splitting and compressing the image frame, without waiting for storing the whole image frame. 분할화면 송수신 기반의 영상처리장치는 영상 프레임을 복수의 분할 영상 프레임들로 수평 분할하는 송신 프레임 버퍼, 각각은 해당 분할 영상 프레임을 상호 독립적인 압축방식으로 압축하고 상기 영상 프레임의 수평 위치에 관계없이 해당 분할압축 영상 프레임을 즉시 제공하는 복수의 분할 영상 인코더들, 복수의 분할압축 영상 프레임 각각을 미리 지정된 위치에 버퍼링하는 수신 프레임 버퍼, 디스플레이 영상을 버퍼링하는 영상 버퍼 및 각각은 해당 분할압축 영상 프레임을 압축해제하고 상기 해당 압축해제된 분할압축 영상 프레임을 상기 영상 버퍼에 제공하는 복수의 영상 디코더들을 포함한다. 따라서, 분할화면 송수신 기반의 영상처리장치는 전체 영상 프레임이 저장되는 것을 기다리지 않고 즉시 영상 프레임을 수평방향으로 분할 및 압축하여 송신할 수 있다.
