Disclosed are a charger having a battery diagnosis function and a driving method thereof. The charger having the battery diagnosis function, which is connected between an input power source for supplying an input voltage and a battery for charging the battery with the input voltage, includes: a full bridge circuit connected to the input power source and including first to fourth switches; a transformer including a primary side winding and a secondary side winding, in which the primary side winding is connected to the full bridge circuit for converting the input voltage received through the full bridge circuit and transmitting the converted input voltage to the secondary side winding; and a rectifier circuit including a fifth switch and a sixth switch, and connected between the secondary side winding and the battery for rectifying the voltage transmitted through the transformer to charge the battery, or transmitting power in both directions to diagnose a lifespan of the battery. 입력 전압을 공급하는 입력 전원과 배터리 사이에 연결되어, 상기 입력 전압을 상기 배터리에 충전시키는 배터리 진단 기능을 갖는 충전기에 있어서, 상기 입력 전원과 연결되고, 제1 스위치 내지 제4 스위치를 포함하는 풀 브릿지 회로; 일차측 권선과 이차측 권선을 포함하고, 상기 일차측 권선은 상기 풀 브릿지 회로와 연결되어, 상기 풀 브릿지 회로를 통해 전달받은 상기 입력 전압을 변환하여 상기 이차측 권선으로 전달하는 변압기; 및 제5 스위치 및 제6 스위치를 포함하고, 상기 이차측 권선과 상기 배터리 사이에 연결되어, 상기 변압기를 통해 전달받은 전압을 정류하여 상기 배터리를 충전시키거나, 상기 배터리의 수명을 진단할 수 있도록 양방향으로 전력을 전달하는 정류 회로를 포함하는 배터리 진단 기능을 갖는 충전기가 개시된다.
