Disclosed are a device and method for detecting an object in a frame. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the object detection device includes: an object detection unit which uses a current frame and one or more previous frames to detect a moving object; and a filtering unit which determines whether the sharpness of the object detected by the object detection unit within the current frame is equal to or less than a preset level and whether the brightness of the object is equal to or less than a preset level as well as classifying the object as a non-interest object when the sharpness and brightness of the object are both equal to or less than the preset levels. 프레임 내에서 객체를 탐지하는 장치 및 방법을 개시한다. 본 실시예의 일 측면에 의하면, 현재 프레임 및 하나 이상의 이전 프레임을 이용하여 움직임이 존재하는 객체를 검출하는 객체 검출부 및 상기 현재 프레임 내에서 상기 객체 검출부에서 검출한 객체의 선예도(Sharpness)가 기 설정된 수준 이하인지 여부 및 상기 객체의 밝기가 기 설정된 수치 이하인지 여부를 판단하여, 상기 객체의 선예도가 기 설정된 수준 이하이며, 상기 객체의 밝기가 기 설정된 수치 이하인 경우, 상기 객체를 비 관심 객체로 분류하는 필터링부를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 객체 탐지 장치를 제공하는 데 주된 목적이 있다.
