The present invention relates to a communication method and a system for fusing a 5G communication system and IoT technology to support a data transmission rate which is higher than a data transmission rate of a 4G system. The present invention can be applied to intelligent services (a smart home, a smart building, a smart city, a smart car or a connected car, health care, digital education, retail business, a security and safety related service, etc.) based on 5G communication technology and IoT related technology. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method for downloading a profile of an electronic device comprises: a step of receiving profile information from a profile information transmitting server; a step of transmitting a profile request to an identified profile providing server based on the profile information; and a step of receiving a profile which can be installed in a universal integrated circuit card (UICC) of the electronic device from the profile providing server. Provided are a profile information providing server for providing the profile information to the electronic device and an operation thereof; and the profile providing server for providing the profile to the electronic device and an operation thereof. Provided are a method for changing the profile between devices, a method for obtaining the profile information by using code information, a method for modifying the profile providing server, and a device performing the same. 본 개시는 4G 시스템 이후 보다 높은 데이터 전송률을 지원하기 위한 5G 통신 시스템을 IoT 기술과 융합하는 통신 기법 및 그 시스템에 관한 것이다. 본 개시는 5G 통신 기술 및 IoT 관련 기술을 기반으로 지능형 서비스 (예를 들어, 스마트 홈, 스마트 빌딩, 스마트 시티, 스마트 카 혹은 커넥티드 카, 헬스 케어, 디지털 교육, 소매업, 보안 및 안전 관련 서비스 등)에 적용될 수 있다. 본 발명의 실시 예에 따르면, 전자장치의 프로파일 다운로드 방법에 있어서, 프로파일정보전달서버로부터 프로파일정보를 수신하는 단계, 상기 프로파일정보에 기반하여 식별된 프로파일제공서버로 프로파일 요청을 전송하는 단계 및 상기 프로파일제공서버로부터 상기 전자장치의 UICC (universal integrated circuit card)에 설치 가능한 프로파일을 수신하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법 및 전자 장치를 제공할 수 있다. 또한, 상기 전자장치에 프로파일정보를 제공하는 프로파일정보제공서버 및 그의 동작, 상기 전자장치에 프로파일을 제공하는 프로파일제공서버 및 그의 동작을 제공할 수 있다. 또한, 본 발명의 실시 예에 따르면, 장치간 프로파일 교환 방법, 코드 정보를 이용한 프로파일정보 획득 방법, 프로파일제공서버 수정 방법 및 이를 수행하는 장치를 제공할 수 있다.
